Remote Area Medical is proud to participate in the 2012 Knoxville Veterans Stand Down, the 12th annual consecutive event of its kind in Knoxville. The event will offer a variety of services to veterans and is a collaborative effort between various groups, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Volunteers of America, Army National Guard, Women Marines Association – Rocky Top Chapter – TN-1, Department of Labor, Upward Bound, V-3 (a service-disabled veteran-owned business), the Knoxville Chapter of Rolling Thunder, and the Vet Center.
Services to be provided by Remote Area Medical will include dental cleanings, fillings, and extractions; and eye exams and eyeglasses made onsite. Other services provided by the groups named above will include: city/county and judicial services, VA enrollment, VA Benefits, housing assistance, legal aid assistance, transportation, entertainment, showers, meals, haircuts, clothing, AA/NA, and information regarding available community resources.
While RAM will be offering dental and vision services only on Saturday, November 10. The 2012 Homeless Veteran Stand Down will be a two day event (November 9 and 10), held at the National Guard Armory in Knoxville. Veterans will have the option of staying overnight.
